Down the drain ...

The toilets in japan are very well designed, they have the water that fills the flush tank come out via a tap at the top so you can use the clean water to wash your hands before it fills the flush tank. Then the next time you flush, the dirty water you washed your hands with flushes your Poo and Wee away. Brilliant idea!!!
yes, brilliant.
you're heard of gray water, run off from the tops of LEED buildings used to fill toilet bowls, right? and using similar gray water for watering the lawn? http://www.archenergy.com/_edr-leed/html-pages/WEpages/LEEDWEc12.htm
They use seawater to flush the toilets in Hong Kong, comes from a separate pipe. Not for environmental reasons but because they lack natural storage reservoirs.
Yes, some folks here have modified their roof collecting rainwater for flushing and I collect rainwater in my water butt for the home grown vegetables. I always spare a thought for those less fortunate than me that have to walk miles for clean water.
[this is good]
It's good that people are now finally starting to realise that our world is being polluted by US, and every little thing we do no matter how small counts towards making the planet greener and better for our future grandchildren.
The local Council recently built an eco friendly nursery made from wood which has a roof which collects rainwater for the toilets, they have also developed a new scheme to use re-usable nappies and have piloted the scheme so that all mums can have nappies washed and collected every week (I wonder how many mums can be bothered to do that? Our mums used to wash our nappies by hand).
